Congratulations to Professor Martin Chi-Sang WONG, Assistant Professor of School of Public Health, for getting the award of Doctor of Medicine from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. I believe Martin will continuous contribute his professional knowledge to his teaching and research in SPH.

Won “Best Oral Presentation Award” at the 2008 Hong Kong - Macau Postgraduate Symposium on CM

Congratulations to Vincent Chi-ho CHUNG for winning Best Oral Presentation Award at the 2008 Hong Kong - Macau Postgraduate Symposium on Chinese Medicine.

Vincent Chi-ho CHUNG, student of PhD in Public Health has won the Best Oral Presentation Award at the 2008 Hong Kong - Macau Postgraduate Symposium on Chinese Medicine which is organised by CUHK School of Chinese Medicine, HKU School of Chinese Medicine, HKBU School of Chinese Medicine, CUHK Institution of Chinese Medicine, HKUST Department of Biology, HKUST Department of Biochemistry, PolyU Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology, CityU Department of Biology and Chemistry, Macau University of Science and Technology, and University of Macau. His award-winning presentation is “Clinical Evidence on Chinese Herbal Medicine: An Overview of Systematic Review”.


Won "Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence - CNOOC Grants for 2007-08"

Congratulations to Ms Jin MOU for winning Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence - CNOOC Grants for 2007- 08.

Ms Jin MOU, student of PhD in Public Health has won an award under the Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence - CNOOC Grants for 2007-08 which assist Jin to undertake a research at the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK for 3 months.


Won 11th Annual Teacher of the Year Awards 2006/07
Professor Martin Wong Chi-sang, Assistant Professor of School of Public Health and Department of Community and Family Medicine won Teacher of the Year 2006/07, Medical Year Four, Faculty of Medicine, CUHK. To both encourage and to recognize excellent efforts by the teaching faculty, the Faculty of Medicine annually presents awards to outstanding teachers as determined by the students.

Won “Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence - CNOOC Grants for 2007- 08”
Vincent Chi-ho CHUNG, student of PhD in Public Health has won an award under the Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence - CNOOC Grants for 2007-08 which assist Vincent to undertake a research at the Needham Research Institute, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK for 3 months.

Dr Abhishek SHARMA, Visiting Postgraduate Student has won an award under the Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence - CNOOC Grants for 2007-08 which assist Abhishek to undertake a research at SPH from January to September 2008.

Won “OSH Best Project Award”

Three teams comprising students and staff from the School of Public Health and the Department of Community and Family Medicine have won the Best Project Award 2006-07 of the Occupational Safety and Health Council. The council established the award in 1999 to encourage the study of occupational safety and health in universities and the post-secondary sector. A maximum of 10 awards are given out each year.
This year, three CUHK projects received the award. They were:
  • 'Hearing Loss Evaluation among High Noise Exposed Airport Workers: A 10-year Follow-up Study'by Prof. Shelly Tse Lap-ah (left), So Chau-ming Thomas, Lee Yat-fai, and Yu Kwok-man, students of the Postgraduate Diploma Programme in Occupational Hygiene;
  • 'Is Pre-placement Questionnaire-based Medical Evaluation Useful in Predicting Worker's Tolerance to N95 Respirators' by Prof. Ignatius Yu Tak-sun and Dr. Tse Pak-yiu, Master student in Occupational Medicine; and
  • 'A Hazard Evaluation of the Formaldehyde Level within an Anatomical Pathology Laboratory by Lou Chun-hin, Law Ka-yee Rainbow, Lam Chuk-wai Patrick, So Kam-shing, and Yau Wainang Rae, students of the Postgraduate Diploma Programme in Occupational Hygiene and their supervisor, Dr. Samuel Yu.
