Biography

Zhang XH is an assistant professor teaching epidemiology and doing research on chronic disease control in the School of Public Health and Primary Care, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong since 2003.  

Before joining the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Dr. Zhang worked as a senior medical officer in the Unit of Cardiovascular Diseases, the Cluster of Non-communicable Disease and Mental Health, WHO Headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland, and a senior research fellow in the Institute of International Health, School of Public Health and Community Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences in Sydney University.  Dr. Zhang was specialized as cardiovascular epidemiologist in the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Katholieke University of Leuven, Belgium. She coordinated several cardiovascular epidemiology and prevention projects in 10 selected urban and rural areas in Mainland China, organized the Thailand arm of InterAsia study to investigate the prevalence cardiovascular disease and related factors in urban and rural areas in the whole country, established the Asia Pacific Cohort Studies Collaboration in the region and participated at several international collaborative randomized controlled trials for hypertension control and stroke prevention. Dr. Zhang is a board member of World Hypertension League, chairman of scientific committee in Hong Kong Epidemiology Association, and a member of American Heart Association, American Stroke Association, and Australasia Epidemiological Association. She is also editorial board member for several international journals.
