  • Dr Rebecca SIMMONS (Visiting period: 26th September – 4th October 2008)
    The career development fellow/junior research fellow of Wolfson College, MRC Epidemiology Unit, Institute of Metabolic Science will be coming on a College-to-College Link between Shaw College and School of Public Health at CUHK and Cambridge University


  • Professor Bob HAINING (Visiting period: 29 September 2008)
    Professor of Human Geography and Fellow of Fitzwilliam College at Cambridge University will be visiting Hong Kong from 27 to 30 September 2008 on an unofficial visit.  Professor Haining will be giving a seminar on “Geographic Information Science and the Study of Health” on 29 September, 2008 from 1pm to 2pm at KCT Communications and Resource Centre, 1/F, School of Public Health.


  • Sir Martin EVANS (Visiting Period: 10 October 2008)
    Professor David Grant, Vice Chancellor of Cardiff University and Sir Martin Evans, 2007 Nobel Prize Winner in Medicine will be visiting Hong Kong in October 2008. Sir Martin will be giving a Nobel Prize Lecture on 10 October, 2008 entitled “The Origins of ES Cells” at Shaw Auditorium, School of Public Health.


  • Sydney Delegation (Visiting period: 20 October 2008)
    A delegation from the University of Sydney, led by the Chancellor, Her Excellency, Professor Marie Bashir and the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Michael Spence, will be visiting Hong Kong in October 2008.  School of Public Health and School of Law at CUHK would co-host a symposium with the Faculty of Law at the University of Sydney on 20 October, 2008, from 2:30pm to 5pm at ChoYiu Conference Hall with the theme of “Pandemic Influenza”.  This conference will be co-hosted by Professor Belinda Bennett, Director for Health Governance from University of Sydney, Professor EK Yeoh, Director of Systems for Health from School of Public Health and Professor Mike McConville, Director of School of Law at CUHK. 


  • Dr Xiaolin WEI (Visiting period: 28th – 29th October 2008)
    The senior research fellow of Nuffield Centre for International Health and Development, University of Leeds, Leeds, UK; and visiting professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University, China, will be coming to Hong Kong to explore research collaborations between the School of Public Health and Shanghai Health Bureau.  Dr Wei will also deliver a seminar entitled: “Health system challenges to TB control: health financing and the primary care systems” on 28th October 2008.
