The areas of research of the Division have three major inter-related foci: Environmental Health, Environment/ Occupation Related Cancer Epidemiology and Occupational Epidemiology. Research themes include air pollution, environmental factors affecting the spread of SARS, persistent organic pollutants in human milk, health impact of environmental noise, indoor air quality and health, occupational and environmental causes of lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and nasopharyngeal cancer, silicosis, asbestosis and mesothelioma, occupational health and safety issues in different settings, and evaluation of interventions in occupational health. The Division works in partnership with local universities and overseas institutes including US, Japan, Mainland and Macau.
