Q11: I have taken HKCEE twice. Will only one be counted?
A11: We only consider the HKCEE results obtained in one sitting. If a student has taken the examination twice, we will consider the results obtained two years prior to the year the student applies for admission to CUHK. Only if that year's HKCEE results cannot meet our admission requirements, we will consider the results obtained in other year(s). For example, a student's HKCEE results obtained in 2008 will be considered for admission in September 2010. If his/her 2008 HKCEE results cannot fulfill our admission requirements, then we will consider his/her HKCEE results obtained in other year(s).

Q16: How to compute the admission score?
A16: The University formula for computing weighted grade point averages (UWPA) in the 2010 Entry is extracted from http://www2.cuhk.edu.hk/oafa/local/uformula.htm for your reference:

THE CHINESE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG

University Formula for Computing Weighted Grade Point Average (UWPA) in the 2009 Entry

UWGPA* = 1/3 HKCEE Score + 2/3 HKALE Score, where

HKCEE Score = Grade Point Average of the best 7 CE subjects including 2 language subjects in a single sitting of HKCEE,

and

HKALE Score = Grade Point Average of AS Use of English + AS Chinese Lang. & Culture + 2AL (or 1AL plus 2AS) subjects in a single sitting or combined sittings of HKALE

*Note: UWGPA formula may be different from the Programmes' formulae and may be changed in the 2010 entry.

Grade Point Conversion Scale
A = 5 B = 4 C = 3 D = 2 E = 1 F / U = 0

Q17: If I have put CUHK BSc in Public Health Programme as my second choice in JUPAS, will I be admitted to your Programme if I get good results and fulfill all your admission requirements?
A17: If you can fulfill our admission requirements, it is likely that you can fulfill the admission requirements of your first-choice programme and be admitted. Therefore, if you put our Programme as your second choice, the chance for admission to our Programme will be minimal even though you get good examination results. In other words, if you are really interested in our BSc in Public Health Programme, you should put it as your first choice.
