“Practising clinician, educational innovator and research leader in Family Medicine, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention in Asia. Dr. Lee has particular focus on promotion of child and adolescent health through school settings linking to community and primary health care. He has contributed models of care for school health, applicable internationally.”
This was the citation of Professor Albert Lee used by his proposer for his election as member (Foreign Associate) of National Academy of Medicine (previously known as Institute of Medicine), USA in 2012. Election to the National Academy is considered one of the highest honours in the fields of health and medicine. Professor Albert LEE is the first foreign associate elected from Hong Kong. He is now serving as member of National Academy Forum on ‘Investing in Children globally’ (iYCG) to develop an integrated approach for child development and co-chair the Hong Kong workshop of iYCG in 2015.
Albert is a world-renowned pioneer in global health promotion. He developed widely used toolkits and frameworks to enable effective promotion and inculcation of health in various settings, from the school level through to municipal level and up to healthcare infrastructures. Those works lead to over 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals, and advisory roles in the World Health Organization and government bodies.
His contributions in health development are also recognized by his election as Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians in London and Ireland, the Chief Executive Commendation for Community Services in 2004 Honours list of Hong Kong Government, and Award for Pioneer in Healthy Cities for Research by Alliance for Healthy Cites (AFHC) in 2014. He was Chairman of Scientific Committee of AFHC 2014 Global Conference. He also hold honorary and adjunct professorships at many leading academic institutions in Hong Kong and overseas.
Currently Albert is a Clinical Professor at the School of Public Health and Primary Care at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Founding Director of the Centre for Health Education and Health Promotion. He is a medical doctor in UK and Hong Kong. He obtained Medical Degree (MB BS) from the University of London (UCL-Middlesex) in 1984 with various awards and merit certificates, and was awarded higher doctoral degree in Medicine (MD) and also MPH from CUHK. He holds specialist qualifications in Family Medicine and Public Health. He has also been admitted as Associate of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

- The greatest achievement in teaching is development of various programmes first time in Hong Kong and also not many similar programmes in other parts of the world. The contents of those programmes have been taken reference by other institutions locally and overseas for programme development and I have been extensively involved in external assessment of newly developed academic programmes locally and overseas,.
