Mission: “We seek to further the knowledge and understanding of the complexity of systems and how systems improve health; and work to transfer this knowledge and understanding to inform policy and support best practice.”

The Centre for Systems for Health was established in early 2007 under School of Public Health.  The strategic areas of development include research, education, consultancy, policy forums and publications.

Research

The areas of research of the Centre are in health systems, health services and health policies.  Research themes include primary care, non-communicable diseases, traditional Chinese medicine, health systems, health care financing, ageing, climate change health, global health and medical humanitarian response policy.

Postgraduate: Health policy, health services and health management modules for Master of Public Health (MPH), and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Health Care Programmes in collaboration with Faculties of Business Administration, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Executive training:  Flagship programs tailor-made to various institutions.

  1. With around 100 participants from the Regional Office of the World Health Organisation, Hong Kong’s Health System, Practitioners, Providers, and both international and local patient support groups.
  2. The launch of People and Patient Centred Healthcare Initiatives.

China Flagship on Health Sector Reform and Sustainable Financing for Senior Chinese Leaders (26 November 2007 to 7 December 2007)

  1. Co-organised with Ministry of Health, China and Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard University to provide an integrated and coherent learning program covering health sector reform and financing options to senior Chinese officials.
