Research Postgraduate Programmes

MPhil-PhD in Public Health

The MPhil-PhD programme supports interdisciplinary studies in the field of public health and primary care and aims to build the capacity of students in research methodologies as they relate to public and population health, and community oriented primary care. The fields of study are related to health protection, health improvement and as well as research methodologies and health service provision. Students will need to learn by conducting independent research and by participating in the work of the 8 divisions of the CUHK JC School of Public Health and Primary Care. MPhil and PhD programmes are articulated, which means that students can, with Division approval, transfer from the MPhil to the first (pre-candidacy) part of the PhD, and vice-versa.

Graduates' Voice

Dr. Vivian C. PUN

Graduate, PhD in Public Health (2011-2014)

Awardee of Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme

Awardee of JCSPHPC 2014 Best PhD Thesis Award

As someone who was trained in Western academic institutions, I am impressed by the high quality of postgraduate education and diversified research expertise at JCSPHPC. My PhD training was both challenging and highly rewarding: I gained knowledge on different study designs and methodologies relevant to latest research through a wide range of courses and projects offered by the School. The School also provided me financial supports to attend international conferences and engage in research exchanges, and helped me develop critical collaborations with world-class experts in my field of environmental health.
