[Guest Lecture] Exploring the Methodology of Adaptive Platform Trials

Updated: Feb 7

Discover the transformative potential of adaptive platform trials in primary care, a groundbreaking approach offering efficient and rigorous solutions to pressing patient-centered questions. Unlike traditional trials, adaptive platform trials enable dynamic adjustments to trial aspects and statistical procedures without compromising validity or integrity. This lecture will explore the dynamic world of platform trials, specifically their ability to simultaneously test multiple treatments for the same disease. Additionally, the presentation will highlight the flexibility of platform trials in accommodating new treatments and swiftly eliminating futile interventions through frequent interim analyses. Drawing on examples from actual clinical trials, such as the ALIC4E trial for oseltamivir in influenza and the PRINCIPLE and PANORAMIC trials for repurposed drugs and novel antivirals in COVID-19, this lecture will illustrate the unique features and potent capabilities of platform adaptive trials in primary care research.

Join us for an insightful one-hour lecture featuring Prof. Christopher Butler, an esteemed researcher with notable contributions to prestigious journals such as The Lancet. This session will delve into the cutting-edge realm of adaptive platform trial design, a topic at the forefront of clinical research. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the innovative methodologies shaping the future of clinical trials. Don't miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of adaptive platform trials and their impact on advancing medical research.
